To do research and study the requirements of standards, guidelines and regulations;
To draft tourism related standards and guidelines;
As a Secretariat to the Brunei Darussalam Standards Committee on Tourism;
To audit and inspect for the safety of tourism facilities;
To develop the requirements, basic course content and training programme of tourism training institutions or organisations;
To monitor and compile safety certification and standard requirements recognised by the department to be used by the tourism sector;
To facilitate and award national standards relevant to the tourism sector;
To facilitate and implement relevant tourism standards in the country such as:-
ASEAN Green Hotel Standard;
ASEAN Green Hotel Standard;
ASEAN Homestay Standard;
ASEAN Public Toilet Standard;
ASEAN Spa Service Standard;
Tourism Security And Safety Guidelines;
ASEAN Tourism Standards In Responding To The Climate Change;
ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standards;
ASEAN Tourism To Address The Climate Change Issue;
ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Standard
